what is PAN Card ?
PAN or Permanent Account Number is a ten-digit alphanumeric code generated by the India’s ‘Income Tax Department’, that is required for everyone in india who files their income tax returns and who wish to conduct any kind of financial transaction in India.PAN is required if you wish to enter the Indian Share Market.
It is required for Non Resident Indians living abroad too, who wish to make investment in India, buy property/house in India, open bank account, demat account, rent out a property etc.

PAN card can be applied manually through local financial services agencies such as IT submission / Insurance services or through online using the Income tax website.

1. Click New PAN Option to apply for New PAN Card. Make sure you havent applied before or doesn’t hold any PAN Card Already. According to Indian Laws, Each user should have only

2. Click Online Application for New PAN(Form 49A) to Guidelines form in English/Hindi Language. Read the instructions before proceeding further.

3. Choose your category to apply for your New PAN. The category of the applicants are
  • Individual
  • Firm
  • Body of Individuals
  • Hindu Undivided Family
  • Association of Person
  • Local Authority
  • Company
  • Association of Persons(Trust)
  • Artifical Juridical Person
Fill the form as per the instructions below and choose your mode of payment as Demand Draft/ Cheque / Credit Card / Debit Card
If your communication address is within India. Processing Fee for PAN application is Rs.94.00 (Rs.85.00 + 10.3% service tax).



If Communication address is outside India. Processing Fee for PAN application is Rs.744.00[ (Application fee Rs.85.00 + Dispatch Charges Rs. 590.00) + 10.3% service tax and Payment has to be done only through Demand Draft.

4. Applicant has to verify the instructions before submitting form 49A in Online.  On successful submission the applicant will be getting an acknowledment Number of 15 – Digit Number
5.Take Print Out of the Acknowledge Slip and affix your recent colour photograph (size 3.5 cm x 2.5 cm) in the space provided in the acknowledgment

6.Do your Thumb Impression/Signature on the box provided
7. Get attested by a Magistrate or a Notary Public or a Gazetted Officer, under official seal and stamp
8.The acknowledgment duly signed, affixed with photograph (in case of ‘Individuals’) alongwith Demand Draft, if any, and proof of identity & proof of address as specified in the application form is to be sent to NSDL at ‘Income Tax PAN Services Unit, National Securities Depository Limited, 3rd floor, Sapphire Chambers, Near Baner Telephone Exchange, Baner, Pune – 411045′
